Brendan & Morgans stunning Coastal Austinmer Headlands Hotel Wedding amidst raging fire season.

Its December 2019 and the fires ravage the south coast of Australia. Smoke fills the skies and creates a lighting effect that I have never seen before. On this Day Brendan & Morgan had their wedding at Austinmer Headlands Hotel in Austinmer. Despite the crazy weather of gale forced winds and poor viability the day was filled with fun, love and happiness. I just love how the photos have turned out.

So here Ive asked Morgan to answer a few questions to get a brides perspective of the day.

What made you choose the Austinmer Headlands Hotel for your wedding?

We love the location of Headlands hotel and the convenience of it being so close to where we live. It is such a beautiful spot and we knew that we wanted to share its surroundings with our guests. When we met with the staff for the first time they were so helpful, honest and accommodating to us that it made it one of the easiest choices we had to make.

What was your favorite detail?

The set up from jewel @ the event folk was amazing! All of the fine details that she thought of made the day so special. Teaming up with our florist @ Maggie blooms to take the little information Brendan and I gave them (we had absolutely no idea) and creating what they did was astonishing. Also Brendans effort to build the arbour was pretty special.

Favorite moment?

Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Brendan. I was so nervous and then it was all fine when I saw him. Also saying our vow’s was fun as we wrote them ourselves and it was the first time hearing them.

Tell us about the Dress

I got the dress from one day bridal in Melbourne. So I never imagined what my wedding dress would look like and I found the task of finding one pretty daunting to be honest. I made a lot of appointments in Melbourne at different stores and I ended up with one of the first dresses I tried on in the first store. It sounds cliche but it felt the most right.. it was comfortable and I felt like myself in it.

One word of advise for other bides

You can plan everything down to the last little detail.. but on the day whatever happens will happen (guests back out at the last minute, a booming southerly). In the end you just need to put trust in the people helping out and enjoy the day with your new husband and family and friends.

Why did you pick Michael Boyle Photography

We had been to a couple of weddings where Michael was the photographer and I also follow him in Instagram. Seeing Michael in action on the day showed us how professional, hardworking, fun and creative he is and then seeing the final product on instagram after witnessing him take the photos was amazing! The small details that he see’s in a backdrop or from the lighting and how he captures it in a photo is astonishing. We put complete trust in Michael on the day and he did not disappoint. We also like that he was a preferred supplier at Headlands Hotel for weddings.

The Event Folk – Styling

Jewel is so amazing at what she does.. she coordinated our set up for the ceremony and reception. We had a couple of meetings with her and I put complete trust in her to deliver on the day and she did. I had no idea what things would look like until I arrived and she absolutely smashed it! She thinks of even the smallest detail which makes a huge impact. On the day Brendan and I didn’t have to do anything which allowed us to enjoy the whole experience so much more.

Maggie Blooms – Florist

SO I had zero idea of what flowers etc I wanted. The event folk worked closely with Maggie Blooms and they did not disappoint. The flowers made such a big impact and were one of my favourite things of the whole day! Putting trust in them Allowing them to do what they do best and be creative etc was a fanatic decision!

Aidan O’Brien – Ceremony Music

We had Aidan play at our ceremony. He was very accommodating in terms of what songs we wanted. He creates such a relaxed vibe with his music I knew our guests would enjoy listening to him throughout the ceremony.

Stella Girlz – Reception Music

Brendan and I were fortunate enough to attend a couple of weddings where this band had played! They were the second thing that I booked when we were planning the wedding as we knew they were a must! They were so chilled and helpful throughout the whole process and controlled the vibe of the reception perfectly! Once they started playing the dance floor was full until we were kicked out of the venue! They were sensational!

Celebrant

Jessica Mutch -Brendan and I attended a wedding where Jessica was the Celebrant. We loved the way she conducted the ceremony and put all of the focus on the couple, their family and guests. She was helpful with the finer details such as the legalities and paperwork which meant we didn’t have to worry about any of it. She made us feel so comfortable and at ease which was extremely helpful on the day when so much is going on.

Makeup

Jaimee May – I am hopeless when it comes to make up and Jaimee made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Once again I put complete trust in her to do her thing and she did an amazing job. She made myself, the bridesmaids and my mum feel at ease in the morning when we were getting ready. Our makeup lasted the whole wedding with minimal touch ups to lipstick required. She is such a talented individual who I couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Hair

D’Luxe made the day so much easier by coming to us which allowed for a relaxed morning. I was able to do a trial before hand to sort out the details of my hair which was fantastic and allowed us to discuss what stable the bridesmaids would have also. Tennelle did such a great job of everyone’s hair on the day leaving the everyone feeling great. She gave her expert opinion when it came to what would work well for an outdoor wedding which had the potential for strong winds. I put complete faith in her to make the right decision and create a hairstyle which I would be comfortable with and would showcase the details in my dress. The whole D’Luxe team are always so professional, talented and caring! Which makes them an easy choice when deciding on something so important!
